Valencia
Valencia is a city in constant evolution, a city that takes pride in its historical past yet embraces the bold architectural feats of the 21st century. Founded in 138 BC, it is a layering of Roman, Visigothic, Muslim and medieval cultures. Examples of this are iconic monuments such as the Silk Exchange (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), La Almoina, the Serranos and Quart Towers, and the Cathedral. But Valencia also rewards visitors with 300 days of sunshine a year, making it very easy to enjoy its beaches, unique spots and green spaces. Noise, music, fireworks, colour and creativity take centre stage in Valencian festivals. And rice — one of the crown jewels of Valencian cuisine — not only plays a central role in its culinary tradition, but also defines one of the most iconic places in Valencia: La Albufera.
