Figueres

Figueres is the epicenter of the Alt Empordà region, with its main attractions being the landscape, culture, and history. It is located fifteen kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Pyrenees, and surrounded by three natural parks. You will be amazed by the Dalí Theatre-Museum, designed by the artist himself, and the immersive experience of the Salvador Dalí Birthplace. You will also find other museums such as the Toy Museum of Catalonia, the Empordà Museum, and the Museum of Technology of the Empordà. In addition to the largest fortress in Europe del s. XVIII , the Sant Ferran Castle, including tours of its underground tunnels and cisterns. To better understand the secrets of Salvador Dalí’s surrealist world and the city’s history, there’s nothing better than joining one of the guided tours: the Dalí Route, “Dalí and Lorca in Figueres,” or the Historical Route of the Spanish Civil War. And don’t miss the local gastronomy—a blend of tradition and creativity—featuring ingredients from both sea and mountain, sourced from local producers, along with excellent wines from the D.O. Empordà region.
