Orihuela

Orihuela, in the south of the province of Alicante, is a city that stands out for its cultural and natural heritage, with its historic center—declared a historic-artistic and monumental site—being its most prominent landmark. Its festivities are also significant, especially Holy Week, which has been declared of International Tourist Interest. It is also the birthplace of Miguel Hernández, and the streets of the city reflect the life and work of one of Spain’s most renowned poets. Orihuela is one of the main tourist destinations in the Valencian Community, a city that holds countless treasures, such as Diego Velázquez’s painting The Temptation of Saint Thomas and unique works by the brilliant sculptor Francisco Salzillo. Its natural surroundings include beautiful spots like the Sierra de Orihuela and the Segura River.
