Segovia

The stunning Aqueduct of Segovia is the “gateway” to this fairytale Castilian city, with the Sierra de Guadarrama as its backdrop. After the initial awe inspired by this masterful monument—167 arches held together solely by the balance of forces—comes the turn of watchtowers, Romanesque churches, synagogues, Renaissance palaces, convents, gardens, hidden courtyards, and an alcázar that may have inspired Disney’s creators… Segovia is to be savored and enjoyed with every step. The Old Town, together with the Aqueduct, is a World Heritage Site. Beyond its monuments, the city’s cultural offerings are remarkably diverse throughout the year, with its streets and venues always alive with music, dance, theatre, or literature. Segovia is also renowned for its gastronomy, especially its roast suckling pig. Its natural surroundings and rich history make it a truly unique destination.
